In the past year and a half since her last appearance on the Local Lounge, Stephanie Hatzinikolis has written more songs, recorded a new demo, and performed many live shows. All of this has established her local reputation as an endearing songwriter with a unique voice. She writes profoundly personal songs, adorned with sweeping piano work, and sung with a smoky vocal delivery. Her recognition and skills have led to her being chosen as one of 16 finalists among about 150 auditions in Spokane's Got Talent 2011* at The Bing this Saturday! To get the word out about that and other upcoming shows, Stephanie Hatzinikolis will return to the 103.1 KCDA Local Lounge this Sunday with her keyboard and demo CD.

It's a pleasure to feature Stephanie Hatzinikolis once again on my show, especially as a finalist in Spokane's Got Talent 2011! The focus of the 103.1 KCDA Local Lounge is to promote local, original, quality musicians who are making waves in the Spokane music scene, hopefully getting the cool gigs, and Stephanie definitely fits that description. A few weeks ago, I invited her back on my program after she told me of her status as a finalist. Before either one of us even had a chance to get the word out about her return, I myself was invited to be one of the judges in Spokane's Got Talent 2011...what an honor! It is my duty to judge the contestants fairly, and I refuse to show any bias toward Stephanie or otherwise misuse my authority. Also, featuring Stephanie on my program and being a judge are two unrelated facts: one did not cause the other to happen; they are merely a coincidence. I was not a part of the auditions or semifinals, nor did I have any knowledge of the contestants before or during the process or have any affiliation with the event or organizers before being asked to be a judge. Shortly before Spokane's Got Talent 2010 I featured finalist Chelsea Dasso on the Local Lounge, simply because she's a great musician who had that prominent show coming up, and I was neither a judge nor had any affiliation with Spokane's Got Talent that year. I have the utmost respect for Spokane's Got Talent and am very happy to be a judge (working pro bono, of course), and I am also committed to producing a quality program with the Local Lounge, completely independent of any other promotion. With that in mind, I hope you enjoy this Sunday's broadcast featuring the wonderful Stephanie Hatzinikolis!
