Bringing some live, high-volume indie rock to our studio!
In late 2008, singer-songwriter William Alan decided to take his solo project in a new direction. He incorporated other musicians to support his live shows, but this soon became a more democratic affair. By early 2009, this collaboration became known as The Toy Garden and they recorded an EP, following that with extensive live performing around Spokane. Through musical maturity and personnel changes (their bassist Anthony Burgess is formerly of Le Train Train Quotidien), they have become a formidable local band...not to mention one of the loudest in town! At their live shows one can find their loyal fans digging the high-volume, raw indie rock that sometimes verges on hardcore. Will's cathartic vocals soar above huge walls of distorted guitars (Will and Shawn Heale), drop-tuned bass (Anthony), and crushing drum work (Shayne Garcia). Their new CD "A Wolf in Hipster's Clothing" will be coming out soon...don't miss their album release show early next month! This Sunday The Toy Garden will bring their full live set-up to the Local Lounge to rattle some pictures off the walls and goof-off a bit in the interview, in addition to previewing a couple cuts from their soon-to-be-released CD.
