Tyrone Wells grew up in Spokane. He found his way to California, where he went to school and formed the band Skypark. Since then he has made his way as a solo artist, getting signed to Universal Republic Records in 2006. This makes him the first ever Local Lounge artist to be signed to a major label...way to go, Tyrone! He has followed up his major-label albums "Hold On" and "Remain" with the acoustic EP "Metal & Wood," which came out earlier this month. You can even hear him on TV and in the movies, as his songs tend to pop up in the sound tracks and promos for various shows and films. His style is simply a blend of classic pop songcraft and lyrics that range from fun to profound. He routinely sells out whenever he plays a hometown gig, as he will soon: this Tuesday the 30th at the Knitting Factory! To get the word out about his show and new EP, he'll come by the Local Lounge this Sunday to perform a couple songs live with Mark Chipello on percussion as well as spin cuts from his EP and latest album.
